circa 1840, with brushed bright 4in. side-by-side barrels, the top-rib signed 'J. PURDEY, LONDON' (refreshed, probably spurious), platinum vented plugs, shallow moulded fences, brushed bright radiused acanthus leaf engraved boxlock action with sliding safes behind the external hammers, London proofs, guarded double triggers, chequered walnut but with flanged flat heel bearing a central clipped corner rectangular escutcheon and turned iron ramrod (originally captive but stirrup absent)
